Business Lessons from Yes Please

I recently listened to Amy Poehler’s Yes Please on a road trip, and I couldn’t help but see parallel business lessons from improv.

As an entrepreneur, I say yes please to

  • Taking risks
  • Making sales calls (cold or warm)
  • Constantly stepping out of my comfort zone

When networking, I meet new people and do the dance of getting to know someone saying Yes Please to expanding my network and learning from someone new.

In business meetings, I say Yes Please to figuring out new ways of doing things, assessing projects, and finding the right people to get the job done.

I say Yes Please because it’s more fun to explore new opportunities, dream of what could be. When you say Yes Please, you seem curious, open to new ideas, and optimistic.

Saying Yes Please allows you to truly commit, as any improv actor does in a sketch. You’re being real, embracing the present moment, and going for it.

A business can have a life and personality of its own, and in the end, don’t you need to simply step back and laugh more?

Yes Please!

Do you need to explore additional marketing support but you’re worried you’ll be a small fish in a big agency pond?

Then say Yes Please to Appeal Marketing and let us help you laugh, take the appropriate risks and grow your business.
