I’m proud to be approaching nearly a decade in business with Appeal Marketing. This venture began when my kids were in elementary school; soon, they’ll be starting high school together.
Appeal Marketing has provided me with flexibility to integrate work, parenting, volunteering, and public service, as a school board member. I led parent-teacher organizations in elementary and middle schools, coached youth basketball, chaired a church summertime event, organized a middle and high school band event, and more!
Professionally, my work has expanded from marketing support to meeting facilitation, which has helped me more effectively plan and run meetings as the executive director of a regional public schools alliance. As a new member of the Technology of Participation Network, I look forward to more growth in this supportive, vibrant community.
Throughout the past nine years, it’s the people and relationships that have truly made a difference. I feel so blessed to know and work with so many outstanding leaders.
It’s been exciting to see a longtime client celebrate 40 years in business and welcome new leaders as the president moved into retirement. While they have introduced several new initiatives, their positive, team-oriented culture has stayed strong. I enjoy being part of their work, as I continue to support their client communication efforts on a consistent basis. Who knew that a cold call back in 2018 would lead to such a long-term client?
Similarly, who knew that my school board service would open doors to broader public schools advocacy efforts? I still keep in touch with school board members who served with me, and I have met other professionals who served on their community’s school boards during COVID, as I did. It’s challenging and rewarding to champion the needs of public school students.
To wrap this up – year nine is underway and going well! Thanks to my family, friends, clients, colleagues, and connections for being so supportive! I’m looking forward to seeing what new opportunities develop in the coming years.
