Lucky 7: Musings on my Latest Moves

Lucky 7 years in business Appeal Marketing

Appeal Marketing has made it to seven lucky years in business.

There have been a few significant moves in year seven. I stopped my work as a part-time account manager to make time for leading a regional public education advocacy group. Member districts include superintendents, business managers, and school board members, providing a variety of perspectives that shape our advocacy work. Public education has always been near and dear to my heart, so I am thrilled to apply my school board and marketing experience to support schools.

While the advocacy group has become the bulk of my work, I continue to support my inaugural client, the Greater Menomonee Falls Foundation, provide email marketing help for an electrical distributor, and facilitate design projects for Community Smiles Dental. Altogether, it is a fun mix of projects that help my amazing clients.

My flexible schedule allows me to help with family logistics and attend my kids’ activities. With a high schooler and middle schooler, it feels busier than ever. Carpools are essential these days. Somehow, Team Olig carves out family time every week, which is important.

Here are some of my reasons to celebrate in several areas of my life:

Professional Celebrations

  • Became the executive director of the Southeastern Wisconsin Schools Alliance.c
  • Provide marketing, social media, and event support for the Greater Menomonee Falls Foundation
  • Spread good news and support communications and branding for non-profit clients
  • Supporting ongoing client communication while achieving strong email open rates for an electrical distributor

Personal Celebrations: Supporting TEAM OLIG

  • Start of my second year as a middle school PTO leader
  • Volunteer for band, sports teams – soccer and track
  • Coached my son’s 6th-grade basketball team
  • Family logistics expert
  • Extra loud and extremely supportive fan

Community Involvement

  • Serve on the board of Falls Cable Access Corporation
  • Planned my church’s Corn Roast for the eighth year
  • Volunteer at church and youth service camp

Seven Years of Appeal Marketing

I am excited to keep running Appeal Marketing for seven years. I am grateful for the friendships with clients and connections. To this day, I still stay in touch with some of the first entrepreneurs I met when we were starting up.

Year seven has been pretty great so far! Thanks to my family, friends, clients, colleagues, and connections for being so supportive!
