Clients inevitably move in and out of business relationships. After eight years of working with a local client, I made the difficult decision to resign to focus on current clients and pursue other opportunities. For several reasons, it seemed like the right time to make a move, and I am grateful for the relationships and fond memories I have with this organization’s many leaders and longtime community volunteers.
One of my favorite compliments from this client was, “Cathy, you are the duct-tape for us.”
And I know I played a pivotal role, especially at their annual 1920’s themed recognition event, filling in and helping everything run smoothly. I even ended up serving as the photographer at last year’s event!
When I look back at all of the events I supported with this client, I have truly enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment at the end of big events, celebrating a job well done with the many volunteers who make it happen. It was an honor to help recognize many community volunteers with leadership awards and, in some cases, due to my PR outreach, local media coverage. As many of these unsung heroes shared in their speeches, they hope that their volunteerism inspires others to get involved. More volunteerism and positivity, yes, more of that, please!
I certainly wish the organization’s volunteers and leaders all the best, and will continue to cheer them on from afar.
Next Moves?
Some of my contacts are asking, “Well, Cathy, what’s next?” I am considering my current client mix and determining types of work that could fit. I look forward to sharing an update soon.
I am continuing to learn more about professional services, meeting facilitation methods, and the use of AI in marketing and small businesses. These areas may inspire Appeal Marketing to launch an exciting new service. I will keep you informed of important developments.
In the meantime, I am enjoying meaningful work with my clients, volunteering, and thoughtfully preparing for what is next.
